I used to buy ebooks on Amazon to read them via kindle, however, January 2019 was a game-changing way to get books. One friend of mine recommended me to the Genesis Library. It’s an open-sourced library that aims to share knowledge all over the world. They claim that knowledge might be spread to everyone, not just in a small group who can afford that and enrich publishers.

Unfortunately, buying books is not for everyone, as some books are quite expensive.

If you buy books every now and then, they might be affordable, but if you’re a regular reader it might cost a portion of your salary. I can’t understand why the version written in the native writer’s language is more expensive than the translated version (at least in Brazil.) In my mind, translating something requires more effort and consequently, it would be more expensive (anyway, it’s life.)

Taking books for free is a paradise for readers and a nightmare for authors and industry.

Of course, It’d be much better if you pay for that, after all, authors, and other people put hours of work into that.

On the other hand, I don’t believe that it’s too bad to get free books on the internet as I don’t take them to make money. I don’t have commercial purposes. I don’t copy and sell them. I just read and then I spread the message to others. Whether recommending it to friends, writing reviews, or buying hardcopies to give to friends.

For example, “Emotional Agility” by Susan David is amazing. It’s one of my favorites. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to live a full and meaningful life. I bought three copies to give to friends.

I’d love to hear from you. What do you think about reading books for free on the internet? Please let me know in the comments below.

Thank you for reading.

See you next time.
